Commonwealth Statutes Annotations: September 2024 update

New legislation information, case annotations and article references have been added to Commonwealth Statutes Annotations, including a note on ASF17 v Commonwealth (2024) 98 ALJR 782; [2024] HCA 19, under sections 189, 196 and 198 of the Migration Act 1958. 

The latest update has added over 94 new case annotations, numerous article references and details of proclamations of commencement registered on the Federal Register of Legislation up to 10 August 2024.

Subscribers will now have easy access to the principal Commonwealth Acts repealed effective from 1 January 2012 to 9 October 2019 and associated article references and case annotations via the Commonwealth Statutes Annotations: Repealed Legislation 2012-2019 on the online platform.

Commonwealth Statutes Annotations (2023 edition)

Commonwealth Statutes Annotations is a quick and easy research tool to navigate Commonwealth Acts. It provides notes to principal Commonwealth Acts and some Regulations and Rules of Court. These notes include assent and commencement details for the Principal Act, information about the Department responsible for the administration of the Principal Act (if applicable), references to articles and cases, regulations and rules made under the Principal Act since the latest reprint, as well as judges' considerations on specific provisions. The service also contains Tables of Numbered Acts, Bills and Proclaimed Legislation.
