Australian Government consults on responsible artificial intelligence (AI)
On 1 June 2023, the Australian Government released, Discussion Paper: Safe and Responsible AI in Australia for public consultation. The consultation builds on the National Science and Technology Council's, Rapid Research Information Report on Generative AI (Information Report) released in March 2023. This update provides an overview of the purpose and scope of the government's consultation, as well as providing a brief outline of the findings of the Information Report. The consultation is open for submissions until 26 July 2023.
Louise joined Practical Law after more than 15 years in legal practice working in commercial law and health law for both the government and in private practice, including at top tier law firm, Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst). Louise is a subject matter expert on data protection and privacy laws and is a current member of the Law Society of NSW's Privacy and Data Law Committee. Louise's expertise also includes advising across all areas of commercial and business law especially in the context of the provision of medical and health services including advising on major projects, information technology and outsourcing.
