Legal update, Privacy Commissioner closes preliminary inquiry into TikTok and calls for urgent reform of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) considers the background and outcome of a preliminary inquiry conducted by the Privacy Commissioner into the privacy practices of TikTok, including its use of tracking pixels. The update also considers proposed reforms to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) that may address the harms arising from the use of tracking tools by large digital platforms.
