We are pleased to announce that Queensland Barrister Andrew West has been appointed as the new General Editor for The Queensland Lawyer.

The Queensland Lawyer has been undergoing a product review aimed at ensuring the journal remains relevant and appropriately serves the needs of our customers. In the latest development arising from this review, we are pleased to announce that Andrew West has agreed to become General Editor.

Andrew has been the Criminal Law Section Editor for The Queensland Lawyer since 1993 and brings a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to the role of General Editor. He was admitted to the Bar in 1982 and his practice ranges across a wide variety of civil and criminal work. He currently holds a commission as a Crown Prosecutor. Andrew has also authored material on a variety of legal topics and presented the occasional seminar paper.

Federal Magistrate Michael Jarrett has stepped down from the role as General Editor, but will be continuing his involvement with The Queensland Lawyer as the Reports Editor. He has been General Editor since 2004 and Thomson Reuters would like to thank him for his commitment to the journal and for his continuing involvement with the Reports.

We will be working closely with Andrew to continue the review of The Queensland Lawyer and anticipate making further exciting announcements about its future development in the coming months.
