Title 25 "Interpretation"
In line with the increasing importance of statutory law, and on the recommendation of TLA Editor in Chief The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, Title 25 “Interpretation” is being rewritten by a high-profile team. “Interpretation” will publish in mid-2011, with a new structure and expanded coverage of this significant and growing area of law.
Professor Cheryl Saunders AO will be leading the re-launch of “Interpretation” as Title Editor, mentoring the authors and extensively reviewing material. Professor Saunders is a laureate professor and holds a personal chair in law at Melbourne University. Professor Saunders has been Title Editor of the “Government” Title since 1992.
25.1 “Australian Domestic Laws” and 25.4 “Judicial Holdings” will be written by Perry Herzfeld of the Victorian bar. Herzfeld was Associate to the Hon Justice Crennan of the High Court of Australia (2008-09) and a Solicitor at Allens Arthur Robinson. He holds a First Class Honours degree in law from the University of Melbourne and is a reporter for the Commonwealth Law Reports.
25.2 “International Law” will be written by Dr Stephen Tully, Legal Officer, Migration Review Tribunal & Refugee Review Tribunal. Dr Tully has authored several TLA subtitles in the areas of Environment & Natural Resources and Human Rights. Dr Tully has a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is widely published in the area of international law.
25.3 “Private Law” will be written by Thomas Prince. Solicitor, Allens Arthur Robinson. Prince was Associate to the Hon Justice Heydon, then the Hon Justice Bell of the High Court of Australia. He holds First Class Honours degrees in law with the University Medal (2008) and Science with the University Medal in Statistics (2006) from the University of Sydney. In 2009, Prince was a Menzies Memorial Scholar in Law and completed his Master of Laws at University College, London in 2010.
