Following feedback from customers, major changes are being undertaken to improve the usability, scope and currency of the Queensland Civil Practice service.

Improvements which have already taken place include:

A new author team, including new authors, a new general editor and existing authors to provide refreshing, relevant and up to date commentary. We welcome and acknowledge:

• Justice Alan Wilson of the Supreme Court of Queensland as new General Editor; Justice Wilson now heads up the author team.
• Bernard Cairns and Bridget Cullen Mandikos, experienced and committed authors, will continue to provide authoritative commentary and annotations to the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 (UCPR).
• Dr John Forbes brings his extensive authority and knowledge of evidence law in Queensland with annotations to the Evidence Act 1977 and Chapter 11 of the UCPR.
• New contributors, David Chesterman and Justin Carter, both of the Queensland Bar, will bring practical insight and analysis on the operation of the UCPR.

The new author team have to date provided a robust updating of commentary and annotations in a number of areas, including:

• Trials and other hearings
• Starting Proceedings
• Preservation of rights
• Appellate proceedings

It is envisaged that by the end of 2011 the service will have been fully reviewed and updated.

In addition to this progressive updating, to ensure the service remains focused and concise, as well as improving navigational ease, the entire service is progressively being restructured and simplified. For example, relevant information from Vol 2 has been moved to Vol 1, and sections which are no longer needed (for example due to duplication) have been removed.

Gong forward, customers can also look forward to additional enhancements, including:

• Continual updating and enhancement of material. In the coming quarter, Particular Proceedings and Personal Service Generally are to be revised
• Continued focus on improved usability, precision and relevance in the service
