The first quarter of 2025 has seen the senior lawyer writers at Practical Law Australia continue to add new and noteworthy content across our practice areas, while also making significant updates to our existing content to address new developments in law and legal life.

Our Banking & Finance team updated the following resources to reflect the commencement of the new Banking Code on 28 February 2025:

Following the passage of the Albanese Government's cybersecurity reform package and the first tranche of reforms to the Privacy Act late in 2024, the Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity experts in our Commercial team have made significant updates to the following documents:

and published a new Checklist, Civil penalties and infringement notices under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

The Commercial team also continued to add to our supply chain content set with a new Checklist, Preparing for supply chain disruptions in a future crisis.

Our Corporate team has published a new long form precedent agreement in the form of a market-standard offer management agreement between a company and a lead manager for use in conjunction with an initial public offering (IPO) of the company's shares under a prospectus.

Our Employment team continues to update existing content for, and create new content responsive to, the ongoing program of employment law reform that has been central to the Albanese Government's legislative program.

They have published a new Help and information note, Key 2025 calendar dates for employment practitioners which provides a quick reference guide to key 2025 dates for employment and industrial practitioners, including commencement dates for key federal, state and territory legislative reforms.

The Employment team has also published a new practice note providing an overview of the application and operation of key industrial and workplace laws relevant to the engagement of individuals providing their personal service through an independent contracting arrangement (see Practice note, Independent contracting and workplace laws), and two new practice notes on executive employment:
