This Subtitle discusses the essence of Royal Commissions and Public Inquiries and the power they have to obtain information by exercising coercive powers. This update discusses the circumstances in which a Royal Commission can be established and how it is to be conducted.

Civil Procedure 5.10 “Limitation of Actions”

The law of limitation of actions deals with the rules governing the period of time within which plaintiffs must commence civil proceedings. This update discusses the legislation in all jurisdictions abolishing limitation periods for child abuse, amendments to limitation periods in defamation cases, and court decisions on personal injury provisions.

Insurance and Income Security 22.1 “Insurance”

This update discusses the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, and the Financial Sector Reform (Hayne Royal Commission Response) Act 2020 (Cth), which amended the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth).
