Ethics and conflicts of interest: Amendments to solicitors' conduct rules

Practical Law Australia In-house has published a new legal update on the amendments to the Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules 2015 to commence on 1 April 2022.

Legal update: archive, Amendments to Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules 2015 provides an overview of the amendments to the ASCR.

The amendments to the ASCR are the result of reviews by the Law Council of Australia between 2018 to 2020, surrounding the need to clarify existing ethical principles around conflict of interest when providing short-term legal assistance services and Rule 42 of the ASCR. The Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors' Conduct Amendment Rules 2022 will amend the ASCR and will commence on 1 April 2022.
