Westlaw AU Tip - How to Find a Legal Principle in The Laws of Australia

The Laws of Australia (TLA) encyclopaedia is a library of legal principles covering over 320 topics across all Australian jurisdictions.  Use the advanced search template to target and find a legal principle in TLA.

Step 1: Log onto Westlaw AU.

Step 2: On the homepage, the Encyclopaedia Advanced Search template is located in the left hand pane.  Click on the Encyclopaedia button to display the template.

Step 3: In the Legal Principle search bar type in the principle you are researching i.e "family trust" then click Search.  The results of the search will be displayed.

Step 4: In the results, the Legal Principle will appear in bold as the document title.  Your search terms will also be highlighted in yellow.
