"Children's Matters" for Family Law Workflows

Because family law clients' lives don't fall into neat categories of relationships, children and property, we are pleased to add "Children's Matters" to the "Ending a Relationship" and "Property Distribution" topics previously available in Family Law Workflows.

Family Law Workflows was released on Westlaw AU late last year. A new type of product, it is a best practice solution that partners with you in your legal work. It is made up of navigation schematics setting out the steps involved in each topic area, interactive checklists and decision trees, practical tips and alerts, as well as concise commentary and links to precedents in various formats.

Our workflow products help maximise time and cost efficiencies and minimise risk by making processes transparent and consistent. Solicitors in smaller firms who are perhaps not so familiar with family law, as well as junior lawyers and their supervisors, will find it of benefit to their practice and their business.

We are excited to announce the latest addition to Family Law Workflows which is now available: "Children's Matters" joins the previous topics, "Ending a Relationship" and "Property Distribution". Clients' lives don't neatly fall into categories and now practitioners can access Family Law Workflows with respect to all three of these key aspects of family law.

In addition to the parenting plans, parenting orders and location and recovery orders, this topic also deals with family dispute resolution and provides preliminary guidance for practitioners faced with situations that may be considered international child abduction matters.

When subscribed to in conjunction with other family law publications, you are able to move between the schematics, to the downloadable precedents in Family Law Precedents- NSW Law Society (suitable for jurisdictions other than WA) and on to the commentary and legislation in Dickey’s Family Law with Legislation if you need to do more research. Similarly, depending on your subscription profile, The Laws of Australia and FirstPoint are easily within reach.

Family Law Workflows is based on the Commonwealth jurisdiction of family law practice; for practitioners in Western Australia, we have Family Law (WA) Workflow.  "Children's Matters" is currently being prepared for that product as well. Both products are still evolving, and future developments to round out our coverage of family law across Australia will include, for instance, "Child Support".
