Mr Nicholas Geoffrey Tucker
I was extremely saddened to learn of the recent death of Nicholas Geoffrey Tucker, member of the Queensland Bar and author for Motor Vehicle Law Queensland, Mackenzie and Tucker’s Summary Offences Queensland and Australian Succession Law.
On behalf of Thomson Reuters, publisher of Motor Vehicle Law Queensland, Mackenzie and Tucker’s Summary Offences Queensland and Australian Succession Law, I offer my deepest sympathies to his family for their loss.
Nicholas was a Barrister at the Queensland Bar and also had an extensive career in management consultancy, practising internationally for over 15 years. He was particularly passionate about children’s rights within the justice system, mental health issues and the environment and he worked with a number of boards. He was:
- Former inaugural deputy chair of the Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council.
- Former Chairperson and a life member of the Queensland Child Witness support agency (PACT).
- Board member of the Mental Illness Fellowship of Queensland (MIFQ).
- Board member of the Environmental Defenders Office Queensland (EDOQ).
Nicholas was an indefatigable and enthusiastic contributor to the services for which he wrote. From my experience as his Editor, he was an absolute joy to work with – full of plans, boundless passion and the commitment and dedication to continually create and improve products that would be practical and invaluable to his colleagues – all the while maintaining his ability to laugh at the quirks of both the legal system and the legal publishing world.
We owe him a great debt of gratitude for all his hard work – vale Nicholas Geoffrey Tucker, you will be deeply missed.
