New Assistant General Editor joins the Local Government Law Journal
Thomson Reuters is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Nash to the role of Assistant General Editor of the Local Government Law Journal.
Scott is a barrister at Martin Place Chambers, practising in environmental (criminal and civil), planning, local government, compulsory acquisition, valuation, property and administrative law. He was called to the NSW Bar in May 2010 and is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Technology, Sydney. He also holds a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Sydney.
Scott was a solicitor in the environment team at Blake Dawson (now Ashurst) between January 2007 and April 2010.
Scott was elected to Randwick City Council in March 2004, and re-elected in September 2008 and September 2012. He was Chairman of the Randwick City Council Planning Committee between September 2006 and September 2008 and appointed as a council member of the Sydney East Joint Regional Planning Panel in June 2009. He was also elected the Mayor of Randwick City Council in September 2011 for a one year term.
Scott also lectures undergraduate and postgraduate students in the subject “Environmental Planning and Development Law” at the UTS Law Faculty. He has been the head lecturer for that subject since 2010.
Scott’s papers and articles on environmental planning, property development, local government and property law issues are published regularly in journals and reporting services, and he is the co-author of the annotations to the Land and Environment Court Act 1979 and Land and Environment Court Rules 2007, published by LexisNexis. Scott also regularly delivers papers at continuing legal education seminars, including those organised by the College of Law, LegalWise Seminars, the Law Society of NSW and the NSW Young Lawyers and the NSW Bar Association.
In October 2012, Scott was appointed by the NSW Government to the Board of the NSW State Records Authority.
