Thomson Reuters welcomes Deborah Holliday, the new author for Summary Offences Queensland and newest contributor to Indictable Offences Queensland.

Deborah Holliday was admitted as a barrister in Queensland in 1994. She has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Bond University and worked for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Queensland) for 24 years. Before joining the private bar, Deborah was a Principal Crown Prosecutor for 15 years where she was required to circuit extensively throughout Queensland and performed a high level management role. She was seconded to the Inquiry Legal Representation Office and represented persons adversely named in the Carter and Connolly/Ryan Commissions of Inquiry.

Deborah’s practice includes providing high level legal advice and appearing as counsel for government departments and the Legal Services Commission. She has appeared in many high profile and complex trials and sentences in the superior courts and has extensive appellate and Mental Health Court experience.

She is also briefed in matters with a focus on vulnerable persons, mental health law and applications brought pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003. In November 2016, Deborah was appointed to the part-time role of Acting Ordinary Commissioner of the Crime and Corruption Commission. For a number of years, Deborah has conducted lectures and tutorials at Bond University in the subjects of criminal law and evidence.
