Queensland Civil Practice, which offers a detailed guide to court practice and procedure in Queensland under the regime of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules, has recently undergone a major review to simplify the structure and improve ease of navigation through the service. The restructure has concentrated on the provision of value added material such as current commentary and annotated, pertinent legislation. A new index relating solely to the UCPR has been prepared and published.

These amendments to the content and structure of the service were released with print update 98 and were reflected online as of June 2016.

The service is authored by a high calibre and experienced team, led by Justice Thomas (President of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Judge of the Queensland Supreme Court).

The team includes the following members:

• Bernard Cairns, Barrister and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Law School at the University of Tasmania. He is the author of the well-known reference work Australian Civil Procedure, now in its 10th edition, and was for many years a member of the academic staff of the TC Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland. He taught and carried out research in the civil litigation system and civil procedure. He was a member of the Supreme Court Rules Working Party and in that capacity produced discussion papers and draft rules for the Working Party’s consideration. Later Dr Cairns served as the consultant to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General in the production of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999. Dr Cairns continues his research in civil procedure and civil litigation as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Law School at the University of Tasmania;
• John Forbes, Barrister of the New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory Supreme Courts and author of Evidence on Queensland (11^th ed 2016), Justice in Tribunals, Australian Mining and Petroleum Law (with Lang), Similar Facts, Disciplinary Tribunals and numerous legal articles. He is in his second term as a Member of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal;
• Bridget Cullen, member of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). Prior to her appointment to QCAT in 2009, Bridget was a Barrister-at-Law and adjunct Senior Lecturer in Law at Griffith University. She currently teaches at Griffith Law School on a sessional basis, and has been involved in teaching at the College of Law (QLD) for more than a decade;
• Daniel Morgan,  Barrister at the Queensland Bar and recognised by Doyle’s Guide as Leading Counsel in the area of succession;
• Justin Carter, Barrister and the author of The Laws of Australia - Native Title and Land Law (Thomson Reuters, 2015), who regularly contributes to other leading law reports and legal encyclopaedias.

Other team members include:

•  Matthew Williams, Barrister at the Queensland Bar, who has a broad civil and commercial practice, and teaches Contract Law and Civil Procedure at the Queensland University of Technology where he is a Sessional Academic in Law;
• Joelle Lenz, legal officer at the Queensland Courts Services where she has worked closely with the Rules Committee on amendments and reviews of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules, Criminal Practice Rules and other legislation ;
• Chris Tam, Barrister at the Queensland bar who practises principally in commercial law.
