State Reports (Western Australia) welcomes new Editors, Judge Davis and Dr de Villiers
Thomson Reuters wishes to advise changes to the Editorial Board of the State Reports (Western Australia).
Paul Nichols RFD
Firstly, we wish to pay tribute to barrister Paul Nichols RFD, who is stepping down as Editor. As founding Editor, Paul has edited the series since its inception in 1979. We are indebted to Paul Nichols for his dedicated service over many years, during which time the State Reports (Western Australia) has grown to become a highly respected law report series for the Western Australian legal profession.
Judge David Parry
We would like to also advise that His Honour Judge David Parry will be stepping down as the Consulting Editor for the State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia after five years in that role. This coincides with Judge Parry concluding a five-year term as a Deputy President of the State Administrative Tribunal and transferring to the District Court of Western Australia.
Judge Felicity Davis
We would like to announce that Her Honour Judge Felicity Clare Earls Davis of the District Court of Western Australia will be stepping into the role of Consulting Editor for Civil matters, commencing with Volume 89.
Judge Davis was appointed as a Judge of the District Court of Western Australia in February 2009. Judge Davis graduated from the University of Western Australian with a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Law degree with Honours in 1981. Before her appointment as a judge, she was a partner at McPhee & Meyer and then at Philips Fox, before becoming a member of the Independent Bar. She regularly appeared in the Federal, Supreme and District courts on a wide variety of matters. Judge Davis also served on a number of Law Society committees and the Council of the Western Australian Bar Association. She was a member of the Dental Board of Western Australia from 1993-99, sitting as a legal member at disciplinary hearings, and was a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) including two terms as WA branch president of AILA.
Dr Bertus de Villiers
Finally, we’re pleased to announce that the new Consulting Editor for the State Administrative Tribunal of Western Australia will be Dr Bertus de Villiers.
Dr de Villiers has been a Member of the State Administrative Tribunal since 2005. He is also an Adjunct Professor of the Law School of Curtin. He is admitted as a legal practitioner in South Africa and Australia. He is a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung (Germany). Dr de Villiers has published extensively on a wide range of constitutional topics, in particular topics dealing with federalism, human rights and administrative law.
