A  case record’s classification provides a direct link to other judgments on a similar area of law.  Just click on the word or phrase in the classification string displayed for the case record you’ve located and you’ll be taken to a list of all other judgments classified to that point of law.

The classification displayed in the case record is a reference to the comprehensive classification scheme in use by FirstPoint, The Australian Digest, the Australian Legal Monthly Digest and the Advance.

This classification scheme commences with a title, corresponding to a traditional legal topic or subject based area of law. Each title is then subdivided into ever more specific matters. Each level of classification seeks to narrow down the area of law under consideration. Larger titles have many levels of classification.
