Westlaw AU Tip - Document Families

In Westlaw AU documents can be grouped together in one search result. A single Result may have more than one document within it. The documents belonging to one Result are called Document families.

Example: Search for a case by citation e.g. 250 CLR 640

Step 1: From the Westlaw AU homepage enter 250 CLR 640 into the Basic Search box, select the Citation radio button and click Search.

Step 2: In this example there is 1 Search Result.

The document count of 4 displayed in the left pane represents that there is 4 different document versions available in this result. e.g. 1) Firstpoint 2) CLR 3) ALJR and 4) Unreported.

In the result below the four highlighted documents are known as a document family.
