The Laws of Australia - author and title editor events

In August and November, functions in Sydney and Melbourne respectively were held to celebrate TLA’s recent achievements and brief authors and title editors on our plans for the year ahead.

These functions provided the TLA team with the opportunity to personally thank some of our contributors, both past and present, and provide a snapshot of how TLA is tracking against its currency enhancement goals.

Our present Editor-in-Chief, the Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, provided an entertaining account of the past year working with the TLA team, as well as his thoughts and aspirations for the encyclopedia in the future.

Commercial Manager Jason Monaghan was pleased to report that not only has the average currency has improved significantly, but that the number of subscribers to the work has also increased significantly in the last 12 months.  Thanks to the rapid growth of online and the expansion of our book publishing, TLA is being read and cited more frequently than at any time in the past.

In Melbourne, a speech by the Founding Editor-in-Chief, John Riordan, provided a fascinating account of TLA’s inception and the hard work that went into launching the encyclopedia.

Thank you to all those who attended. We received valuable insights from our guests and the TLA team looks forward to holding more of these events in the future.
