Westlaw AU Tip - Find cases citing a section of Commonwealth or State legislation

Last Published: January 08, 2020

When working across multiple jurisdictions, you can find cases that cite a provision in Commonwealth or State legislation.

  1. Navigate to the Cases advanced search by selecting Cases on the left-hand panel.
  1. In the Free Text field, add the section you want to find, e.g., "reckless conduct".
  2. In the Legislation Cited (Title) field, add all of the legislation titles in quotation marks with OR written between each, e.g.,
"work health and safety act 2011 (Cth)" OR "work and health and safety act 2011 (Qld)" OR "work health and safety act 2011 (NSW)" OR "work health and safety (national uniform legislation) act 2011 (NT)" OR "occupational safety and health act 1984 (WA)" OR "occupational health and safety act 2004 (VIC)"
  1. The results will show all cases that cite the legislation you have searched for.
