Westlaw AU Tip - Searching for cases that have judicially cited cases

Last Published: May 15, 2018

The Cases Advanced Search Template has specific fields whereby you can search for cases that have judicially considered other cases

  1. Click on the Cases Advanced Search Template situated on the the left side of your screen on the home page

  1. Enter the title of the Case in the Cases Cited field, this will locate cases that have considered this case using its party names

Note: Enter the name of the parties to the case, punctuation is not required

  1. There is also a field to search for Cases Cited by other cases using the Case Citation

Note: The citation must be accurate and spacing has to be as it appears in the citation

These searches will retrieve a list of Cases and/or Firstpoint records of cases that have considered that particular case either by party names or by case citation
